If you love stories, it’s quite certain that everything has started some time ago because of a book. Whether you are old or young, that you’ve already learnt to read or not, this is the right place to find all the stories you want.

At Scuola Holden you can find books in Fronte del Borgo and Teachers’ Room.

We’ve got an online catalogue: when you do a research, just add “Biblioteca Scuola Holden” to see what we have. But if you need some advice or you look for a quiet place to read and study, come at Fronte del Borgo: there are armchairs, coffee, free wifi and interesting bookshelves in which you can poke around.

In order to borrow our books and films you’ll get a card of the Biblioteche Civiche Torinesi (Turin public libraries). The card is free, easy to get, it allows you to borrow books in every city library and to keep an eye on your bookings on the BCT website. We’ll also give you a password to enter in the MediaLibraryOnLine: a huge digital library, from which you can download e-book, mp3, photos and videos.

Are you always on a hurry? Send us an email or call us and we’ll get it. You can borrow and give books back at the Reception (better to be sure they’ve first arrived).

And because we don’t like the idea of stories remaining locked in one room, we make them walk from place to place, hunting for readers.

We organize activities in the primary and secondary schools of our area and we take part to the project Nati Per Leggere (Born to Read). Moreover we organize La Magia delle Storie, fairy tales readings and active readings, where children draw and play together.

Where about? Here at the Holden or in other city libraries. Sometimes we arrive even further: together with Ibby Italia association we help the island of Lampedusa to create a library for kids (we hope it will be soon open).

Reading is a vice that needs attentions and we want to keep on doing it with care.

Things to know:

– It’s a tradition that whoever passes by, if he feels like, leaves a copy of his favourite book with a dedication which describes why it’s important to him.

– The Library timetable: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 3 pm to 7 pm.

– The Reception timetable to borrow or give books back is: from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 6 pm.

Classi-fy Gift Box: you can’t go wrong

Buying a nice present is mostly a question of tastes, those of the person the present is for, which are often difficult to guess, and ours that may be very different from the receiver’s. And this leads us to the “renowned” panic attack scenes in the shops like “Are they going to like it?” “But then again, am I really sure they’re going to use it?” “Is it better in red or blue?” “Do they really need it?”

With Classi-fy Gift Box you can’t go wrong!

David Bowie. A playlist

Three days ago we celebrated David Bowie’s birthday by listening to his new album ★ Blackstar.

Today is a horrible Monday. David Bowie was much more than just a musician.

He has left us with a feeling of emptiness which we’ll be filling in with his songs.
