Pitch It!

with Stefano Tealdi

1 NOVEMBER – 20 DECEMBER 2021 LIVE STREAMING  CINEMA

You have a great story to tell and have followed different courses that have helped you develop your storytelling skills. Now you need to get support (maybe even some financial resources), find partners and create awareness so your film, novel, TV series or TV programme can find an audience. You need to pitch it.

Pitching is used in American baseball and is the action of the launcher of the ball. In the world of cinema production it means throwing an idea with the hope that it is collected by those interested in supporting, collaborating, co-producing or investing on new projects. All the major film markets in Europe like Cannes, Berlin, Venice and Rotterdam organize pitching forums or meetings. This verbal presentation of projects, initially used in the United States in fields like the licensing of industrial and technological patents, is today a common practise in the film world and is becoming more and more common in all fields of the cultural industry, from the pitching of novels to publishers to the pitching of TV series to broadcasters. Public pitching sessions have become one of the most efficient ways of promoting a new project and discovering new talents.

Pitching skills don’t come naturally and are not very common. Presenting a project, and one’s self in public, or to a camera in the case of on-line events, and with only a bunch of minutes to do so, is not easy. This training is aimed at giving you a method so that you will find the best way to pitch your project and all those to come in the future.

There will be a cloud platform dedicated to the class, where students will be able to download documents as well as upload exercises and watch recordings of lessons.
