Holden Summer School è un’esperienza immersiva e laboratoriale. Ogni settimana, per tre settimane, in cattedra ci sarà un professionista internazionale, che si dedicherà a un aspetto diverso dello storytelling: Fiction Writing con Kate Williams, Non-Fiction Writing con Adam Leith Gollner, Screenwriting con Stephen Amidon.
È pensata per persone che arrivano da ogni parte del mondo: negli ultimi anni abbiamo avuto allievi da Stati Uniti, Olanda, Argentina, Uruguay, Messico, Francia, Svezia, Israele, Nigeria e Russia, oltre a studenti italiani e italiane.
Le lezioni saranno in inglese: servirà come lingua franca in classe, con gli insegnanti e per scrivere i propri testi. Non è necessario avere una preparazione specifica o aver già fatto studi particolari. Qui si esplorano diversi ambiti narrativi e forme di scrittura, e magari si scoprirà di essere portati per qualcosa che prima nemmeno si conosceva.
Si scrive moltissimo fin dal primo giorno, sui propri testi e su quelli degli altri, per affinare la sensibilità critica e il lavoro di editing.
Alla fine delle tre settimane, ognuno avrà un bagaglio di conoscenze ampio e variegato e sarà pronto a portare le proprie storie nel mondo.

Kate Williams | Fiction, short stories & novel writing
She is a novelist, Professor historian and broadcaster, a New York Times bestselling author and a teacher of creative writing. She taught the Fiction Writing MA at Royal Holloway, University of London, on the Iceland Writers Retreat and recently gave the fiction keynote at the Quill Fiction retreat. She has published four novels with Orion and Penguin, The Pleasures of Men, Storms of War, Edge of the Fall and The House of Shadows and is working on a novel about the 1920s. She has chaired the Women’s Prize for Fiction judging panel, the Costa book of the year panel and judged many short story competitions.
Adam Leith Gollner | Non-Fiction Writing
He is the author of The Book of Immortality and The Fruit Hunters. He has written for The New York Times, The Paris Review, Vanity Fair, The Smithsonian, The Guardian, Lucky Peach, and The New Yorker online. He used to be Editor of Vice Magazine and also played in a number of bands. He currently lives in Montreal.
Stephen Amidon | Screenwriting
He was born in Chicago. He is the author of seven novels, including Security and Human Capital. Paolo Virzì’s film version of the latter, Il capitale umano, won best film at the 2014 David di Donatello, Nastri d’argento, and Globi d’Oro awards, and was selected to represent Italy as best foreign language film at the 2015 Oscars. The film adaptation of Security, starring Marco D’Amore, was released in 2021. Amidon is also co-screenwriter of the 2017 movie The Leisure Seeker, starring Helen Mirren and Donald Sutherland. He currently divides his time between Massachusetts and Torino, where he is on the faculty of Scuola Holden.

Si può pagare con carta di credito, PayPal, Satispay, Klarna (in tre rate fisse), oppure fare un bonifico. Chi vuole pagare a rate, dovrà selezionare l’opzione bonifico in fase di pagamento: bisognerà versare un acconto di 500 euro, il resto dell’importo verrà suddiviso in altre due rate mensili da 500 euro.
Chi si iscrive alla Summer School e poi volesse iscriversi a Daimon o Academy, avrà uno sconto di 750 euro sulla retta del primo anno.
